Four Walls And A Ceiling

Surrounded by these walls,
curtains drawn,
I can be.
No one can harm me
inside these walls.
I can stare at the ceiling
if I want to see.
It’s safe in here,
no strangers to hurt me
or loved ones to worry for.
I’m just me.
They think me strange
and I have to laugh
because I am;
but mostly because they think
they are not!
Walls to keep out pain,
walls to make me safe.
My world.
A world I make,
a life I live
and only those invited
may enter
into my world.
Within these four walls and a ceiling
you will never know
my feelings. . .
