Can't Let Go
We were having a good time
Until this girl
Latched herself onto him.
He mouthed the words "Help me,"
All of us tried to pull her off.
She wouldn't let go!
I got in one of my moods.
Why is he attracted
To everyone but me?
I had to walk back to his home to get my keys,
So I yelled mean things on the way.
I just said I didn't understand
Why not me?
He's interested in everyone
But the girl he shares his life with.
Well, he walked me to my home.
He said, "You're violent,
And I want to be violent.
So why don't you try to hit me,
And let's go at it."
It was so tempting,
But he was trying to make me laugh.
It worked,
And the anger left.
We talked a while that night.
He told the girl
That he came with me and
Wanted to dance with me.
She asked him if he liked me, and
He said yes.
He bet a lot of guys
Saw him dancing with me and thought,
"What a lucky guy."
Then, he told me that
It was a mistake to tell me
He would never be attracted to me.
Maybe one day,
He would,
But don't wait around to see.
He was being selfish
About telling everyone we were dating,
Since a guy that I could be interested in
Might hear and decide not to give me a chance.
It is terribly frustrating.
I can't be attracted to anyone else,
Because he is everything I want.
How can I go for less than the best?
I refuse!
